Man was this a fucked up ride! and i mean that with a shit ton of respect! Amo truly out did herself this time. There are many layers in this book.  As always, no spoilers ever...Do i feel this could be categorized as a pitch black? no, not really. Is it a bully romance? ehhh...But does it touch on some deep level shit, absolutely. When i said layers... oh man, pay attention to the time lines, whats being said and what is going on. And there is quite a bit.  Ive read darker things, so to anyone that is unexperienced in dark romance, i dont feel this story would make them uncomfortable, but again, go into it open minded. I for one, found it hot and intoxicating. Super hard to put down, even while im at work. Amo truly knows how to write suspense and mystery, because that's what i would say this story was mixed with some steamy sex sense. But above all, great writing and even better story telling.  Fuck can life be cruel. My mother-in-law got COVID 2.5 months ago. She was in the hospital and by week three they said there was nothing left that they could do because every treatment they had tried had failed.  She is 74 with pre-existing conditions (emphysema and COPD) and to top it off  she had developed pneumonia from the COVID. During those weeks in the hospital they had cathed her to make her more comfortable and everyday we called she was becoming to week to talk to us. They even tried the heated hi-flo o2 and nothing was working. The doctor said that her prognosis was getting worse and that we needed to start evaluating how we wanted to proceed since mom said she did not want a DNR or a DNI. She was also refusing the feeding tube. We knew at that point she would continue to decline because she was closing down and retreating into herself because in the state of Montana if you have COVID you may not have any visitors and as long as you have symptoms they will not...

Well... this book was interesting. They put it as a pitch black rating. So, I was intrigued. This was the first type of that rating that I have read. Now I have read the Sleeping Beauty Trilogy by Ann Rice in my teen years and recently tried reading it again, but... that's for a different review.  As always... no spoilers here It is said of these characters that your not supposed to like them or want good things to happen to/for them, but I did. For me, this was a love story, albeit a messed one. And t be honest I could no get enough. Now this book is number 1 in the 24690 series (with Welcome to Whitlock) in between 2 and 3.   So, I like twisted tales and dark romance but this one definitely took it to a whole new level. This book comes with warnings, allowing the reader to understand what they are getting themselves into. This is not a BDSM "love" story.  No spoilers... I would like to say that it is in fact a story of two people who some might say are messed up but they are perfect together and for each other. So in a way it is a love story, but it has some dark scenes. As the authors put it, "[..] you will be thrown into the mind of a psychopath". This story comes from the perspective of both Evie and Ezra. Evie has had a rough start to say the least, being brought up in a religion that makes you think the female form is a sin.  Ezra was brought up to believe that most women are whores and he runs a club. Things are never easy which is why I get lost in books. I've been writing and reading and writing but things continue to be... So, I'm still not in the mood to share my sad and fucked up past, but man when I say it did a number on me... It truly FUCKED me (and not in a good way) but for now.... life... what can I say, it has it's ups and downs... I am now in my junior year (bachelors) which took a couple years longer than I had anticipated because while going for my AA I decided I wanted to be a writer and took every possible humanities class and writing class they offered, needless to say i ended up with a shit tone of credits going into the university but being that we live in a small town I had to do it online and well, good luck finding a writing school online. So now I am going in communications with a minor in media arts.  But what ever.. im getting the shit done, which is why I have decided to start blogging again so I can get used to writing.
