Man was this a fucked up ride! and i mean that with a shit ton of respect! Amo truly out did herself this time. There are many layers in this book.  As always, no spoilers ever...Do i feel this could be categorized as a pitch black? no, not really. Is it a bully romance? ehhh...But does it touch on some deep level shit, absolutely. When i said layers... oh man, pay attention to the time lines, whats being said and what is going on. And there is quite a bit.  Ive read darker things, so to anyone that is unexperienced in dark romance, i dont feel this story would make them uncomfortable, but again, go into it open minded. I for one, found it hot and intoxicating. Super hard to put down, even while im at work. Amo truly knows how to write suspense and mystery, because that's what i would say this story was mixed with some steamy sex sense. But above all, great writing and even better story telling. Oh, let me tell you this series was an incredible read and was over way too fast! Especially book 2 and 5, did that take away from it. Abso-fucking-lutly not! Yet again, Amo Jones knocks it out of the park with Losing Traction ! It is part of the WestBeach Series and we do get to interact with some of the characters from The Devils Own series, which is something i have come to enjoy when Amo does these nice little cross overs. She also has done it with EKC and Midnight Mayhem.    Losing Traction  centers around Phoebe who is the princess of Sinful Souls MC. Well, Amo did it again. This was the conclusion that I didn't even realize I needed! After reading Sancte Diaboli Part 2, I thought I had my happy ending to the EKC, but like I said, now I am satisfied with the conclusion of this series. I won't give away any spoilers, but I will say this. The character of Madison is very relatable. For as strong as she is, she makes mistakes and it takes her awhile, but she grows from them. First off... lets just take a moment here to appreciate the art work here for a second Okay, this series is beyond incredible and it had me all sorts of fucked up! The main character, Jane is a bad  ass but more so then that she is not your typical female lead. This book does come with warnings, but let me tell you. Especially in the first book there are scenes of rape and child abuse, distorted images of self worth, mental abuse, attempted suicide... and all those things that Jane experienced were well into adult hood. From people that were supposed to protect her to the ones that should have loved her.... even her looks played a part in how she felt and of her own image (yet she was gorgeous).  I know I don't like to give out spoilers but i think those things should be known from the beginning, and trust me it does not take away from the story.     This book broke me in all the right ways! I would like to add that this book does contain graphic scenes that might trigger some readers. But, it was still an incredible read! I became who I am today because of the fucked up shit I lived through and let me tell you, Amo Jones knows how to take some pretty dark shit and turn it into the thing that makes her female characters strong and resilient! Let me tell you, I could not put this series down. Holy Moley!!!!! This was my third bully romance that I have read and I have come to understand that I really do enjoy these types of stories. They have bad ass leading women characters that completely kick ass and are surrounded by gorgeous men that will legit burn the world down for them! The best part, these women can kick ass with the best of them, and destroy anything that hurts their family!!! This had an incredible ending... no cliff hangers just a good old fashioned "love is triumphant" ending. I like that Amo added in mental health issues and concerns because as someone that has struggled with it, I appreciated that aspect of this book, even though this book is fiction, mental health issues are very real. It is because of that I will say that both these books in this duet should come with a slight trigger warning for those who have suffered. What can I say... I am truly obsessed with Amo Jones and all that she creates. The woman has me hooked not just on her words but the characters she creates and she knocked it out of the park with this stand alone.  As always... no spoilers here You want love, self discovery, mystery, mafia... Well... this book was interesting. They put it as a pitch black rating. So, I was intrigued. This was the first type of that rating that I have read. Now I have read the Sleeping Beauty Trilogy by Ann Rice in my teen years and recently tried reading it again, but... that's for a different review.  As always... no spoilers here It is said of these characters that your not supposed to like them or want good things to happen to/for them, but I did. For me, this was a love story, albeit a messed one. And t be honest I could no get enough. Now this book is number 1 in the 24690 series (with Welcome to Whitlock) in between 2 and 3.
