Gods and Monsters Trilogy Review

First off... lets just take a moment here to appreciate the art work here for a second Okay, this series is beyond incredible and it had me all sorts of fucked up! The main character, Jane is a bad  ass but more so then that she is not your typical female lead. This book does come with warnings, but let me tell you. Especially in the first book there are scenes of rape and child abuse, distorted images of self worth, mental abuse, attempted suicide... and all those things that Jane experienced were well into adult hood. From people that were supposed to protect her to the ones that should have loved her.... even her looks played a part in how she felt and of her own image (yet she was gorgeous).  I know I don't like to give out spoilers but i think those things should be known from the beginning, and trust me it does not take away from the story. It is what has made Jane who she is and man does she have a big heart... She loves d...

mom and almost dying

Fuck can life be cruel. My mother-in-law got COVID 2.5 months ago. She was in the hospital and by week three they said there was nothing left that they could do because every treatment they had tried had failed.  She is 74 with pre-existing conditions (emphysema and COPD) and to top it off  she had developed pneumonia from the COVID. During those weeks in the hospital they had cathed her to make her more comfortable and everyday we called she was becoming to week to talk to us. They even tried the heated hi-flo o2 and nothing was working. The doctor said that her prognosis was getting worse and that we needed to start evaluating how we wanted to proceed since mom said she did not want a DNR or a DNI. She was also refusing the feeding tube. We knew at that point she would continue to decline because she was closing down and retreating into herself because in the state of Montana if you have COVID you may not have any visitors and as long as you have symptoms they will not...

In Silence She Screams- Midnight Mayhem book 3 Review

Image
This book broke me in all the right ways! I would like to add that this book does contain graphic scenes that might trigger some readers. But, it was still an incredible read! I became who I am today because of the fucked up shit I lived through and let me tell you, Amo Jones knows how to take some pretty dark shit and turn it into the thing that makes her female characters strong and resilient! The things these characters live through do not destroy them, but makes them something more... something to be feared, to be wanted, to be envied, to be loved, to be respected.....They are strong! The ending though... that shit hurt! Description Love will never die if it exists on the lips of death. I often thought about this while I was locked inside my Doll House in Patience. Groomed every second of every day, they made sure to cover all of the darkness lurking in my soul with the false guise of perfection. The soul is fi...

The Havoc Boys (Books 1-5) Review

Let me tell you, I could not put this series down. Holy Moley!!!!! This was my third bully romance that I have read and I have come to understand that I really do enjoy these types of stories. They have bad ass leading women characters that completely kick ass and are surrounded by gorgeous men that will legit burn the world down for them! The best part, these women can kick ass with the best of them, and destroy anything that hurts their family!!! Description (Book 1) There's one word you don't utter at Prescott High, not unless you want them to own you. H.A.V.O.C. Hael, Aaron, Victor, Oscar, and Callum. The Havoc Boys rule the hellhole we call Prescott High. Once upon a time, they ruled me. For an entire year, I endured their shit. But senior year is going to be different. This year, I own them. I’ve made a pact with the Havoc Boys to get the vengeance I deserve. Their price? Me. At their beck and call, in their beds, a part of their gang. Their girl. A Havoc Girl...

Crowned by Fate Review

This had an incredible ending... no cliff hangers just a good old fashioned "love is triumphant" ending. I like that Amo added in mental health issues and concerns because as someone that has struggled with it, I appreciated that aspect of this book, even though this book is fiction, mental health issues are very real. It is because of that I will say that both these books in this duet should come with a slight trigger warning for those who have suffered. As Amo stated in her acknowledgments             " Finally, I acknowldge all this who deal with their struggles internally. The ones                                          who don't  involve people in our dark times because we're too afraid that our                                 ...
